We’re all about caregiving at Maritz. You can see it in the character of the people who work here, you see it in the overall enthusiasm we show for fundraising initiatives, and it’s even a formal part of our business plan. Our caregiving committee guides us through partnerships with community organizations. Since 1995, we’ve partnered with Parents for Better Beginnings (PFBB) to help underprivileged children in the Regent Park area of Toronto achieve their full potential. Over the years, we’ve donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to them through fundraising activities and payroll deductions, and we are always looking for new ways to make a difference.

we mean what we say

  • we provide an opportunity for our employees to donate a portion of their paycheques to support caregiving initiatives
  • we set aside a budget for charitable contributions as part of our corporate philanthropy
  • we encourage employee participation through fundraising initiatives, we provide time off for volunteerism and we match employee donations

special initiatives

PFBB community centre (May 2010)
  • at our Kickoff meeting this year, our entire company enthusiastically participated in activities to help PFBB. We built furniture for their new community centre (in development for Fall 2010), created original artwork and developed marketing plans for them to consider. Helping PFBB realize its full potential is just a part of the way we are helping us realize ours
Nicky’s angel drive - PFBB (December)
  • each year, employees sponsor approximately 500 holiday gifts for underprivileged children in the Regent Park area. We then deliver those gifts to PFBB's holiday party and we bring our very own Santa
  • Christmas gift raffle to raise money, so that we can purchase more gifts for the children

 

Haiti relief (February)
  • partnering with the Red Cross, we held several different fundraising campaigns and raised almost $20K for Haiti relief

additional recent initiatives
  • clothing drive for Canadian Diabetes Foundation
  • participating in the TELUS 5KM Walk for Diabetes
  • fundraising car wash and World Cup pool
