Maritz Research Canada, a division of Maritz Canada Inc., conducted their annual holiday shopping poll among 1,500 Canadians who plan to take part in holiday shopping this season and the results are positive for retailers. “While the effects of the recent slowdowns have not completely dissipated, projected holiday spending is moving in the right direction”, says Rob Daniel, Managing Director, Maritz Research Canada.

Canadian marketing veteran Alison Simpson has been named executive vice-president of Mississauga, Ont.-based marketing services firm Maritz Canada.
Simpson told Marketing she had three criteria when seeking her next professional challenge: a company boasting a great culture, smart people and a strong vision. "If you're looking for one or two of those things it's really not that hard, but to find all three is more challenging," she said. "What really took me to Maritz was the fact that I found my top three criteria in one company."
